Dial Up - Nantan

We wrapped up our Nantan Extreme Week with the first annual Bro-Lympics. Before starting this main event we completed a mosey, 5CPs, Mission and a COP of SSHs, Toy Soldiers, Wonder Bras and Abes. Teams were determined with a good old fashioned wall sit with drop outs being assigned teams in an alternating fashion. Up first was the 400 meter coupon relay which was a close battle with a variety of strategies. Team Stars took the win after UNO opened up a significant lead around the 150 meter mark. Team Stars then expanded their point lead with a victory in the truck push posting a time of 49.25 compared to Team Stripes 52.46. It appeared as if the start was the critical piece in performance in this event much like the Olympic Bobsled races. With a 10 point lead being created you could visibly see the frustration in a “he shall remain nameless” competitive PAX member. Our next events were traditional field events of shot, javelin and discuss. After a few minutes of practice each team put forth two competitors in each discipline with 5, 3 and 1 point of for grabs for the top 3 performers. Mater claimed 1st place in the shot put with a heave of 33’3” followed by Cowbell and Mixer. In the javelin Uno and Boss Hog had a close battle with Boss Hog claiming victory with his throw of 76’ which bested UNO’s throw of 70’4”. Defib claimed 3rd with a throw of 65’3”. Bowser crushed the competition in the discus with his throw of 82’2” with Beachball getting a mark of 62’4”. Gigawatt was a close 3rd with 58’3”. This left the team score at 24 for Stars and 13 for Stripes as we transitioned to Burpee Cornhole. Not a single PAX showed any proficiency at Cornhole as scoring was pretty low. Team Stripes claimed victory and the 5 points by outscoring Team Stars 24-14. This would be the closest the team title would be for the rest of the event with the score at 24-18 in favor of Team Stars. Our next event was a chance for guys to flex their muscle and hoist the Hammer of Honor at arms lengths for the longest amount of time. Each team put forth 3 tributes and Mater put forth an impressive effort of 1:48.52 seconds and will be the first PAX to etch his name on our new rotating prize. Our next event was a Rock, Paper, Scissors Bear Crawl Battle. UNO and Iceberg had a good battle of speed and met at half field with UNO’s scissors beating Iceberg’s paper. UNO moved his team close to victory but lost his next battle which brought Mater into the game who almost beat crawled out of his shorts as he used mental telepathy to claim 3 straight rock, paper, scissor battles to secure the victory for Team Stars. The final event was a 6x400 meter chocolate milk followed by 400 meter run relay. The winning time of 11:23 seconds brought a small moral victory for team Stripes. Overall a good time was had by all and we closed out with our COT and usual events featuring a true UNO started count off. Thanks to everyone for participating in this weeks events. It was great seeing some faces we haven’t seen in a while and also bring in a few FNGs during the marathon relay! Let’s keep the energy rolling into the fall as we start bring out the headlamps and experiencing some cooler temperatures!
